Three out of the four band members have that awful "shaved on one side look" side and the whole group looks like a grunge/alternative band. That's what the Misfits were supposed to be, not Jem and the Holograms. Did they even watch the series or did they just think "this is boring" and write their own story instead?
It's so disappointing. The 2010s should just let the 80s rest in peace.
So far all we know about the comic is that they have updated the looks. It is being published by the same company doing the "My Little Pony" comic and although I have no interest in reading that comic it has been a pretty big seller.
I say give it a chance. Especially compared to the movie that is coming out.

Apparently, Kimber and Stormer are a lesbian couple. The Misfits hate the Holograms due to professional jealousy over how the good girl group got a free pass to being mainstream while the rockers worked hard with less recognition. And Rio is only interested in Jerrica, not Jem, due to disliking stars and prima donnas.
I don't know what to think of all that, but I certainly don't care for the new designs.
I'm not going to read it anyway There's no music in a comic book so what's the point

Oddly, it takes what the new movie wants to do, but manages it in a way that uses the ideas from the series, or at least so far.
The comic's taking the original series and upping the ante, which is what the film SHOULD be doing, but isn't. The movie isn't JEM, it's Hanna freakin' Montana.
