The episode about the girl on drugs

Was kind of amusing.

Not one of the better drugged out eps I've seen. Think other cartoons handled it better. Still corny, but better.

I'm the best there is at what I do, and that ain't pretty.

I agree, Jerrica is suspicious but doesn't do anything about it? Way to go Jerrica.

And where the heck was everyone else during this six adults plus over ten kids and no one noticed anything before she tried to jump out the window?!

My guardian diety is a planet with the sea of sand, the soldier of embrace, Sailor Neptune!

reply

Right?? Way to go, everybody!

The kid selling the drugs at school was the funniest. Everything that came out of his mouth was so cliche and corny

You will note at the very beginning that the social care worker who brings Laura to Starlight Mansion says that she's only going to stay there TEMPORARILY. In other words, the Starlight Foundation isn't really geared to take care of people who have mental health issues and such. The adults, as well as the other kids, have got used to a certain system, and no one was prepared to look out for Laura the way she needed to be looked out for.

Yes, they SHOULD have been much more vigilant than they were, but you must also remember that Laura REJECTED everyone's attempts to become friends with her, so they probably all deemed it best to heed her request to be "left alone"......they thought they were giving her the space she wanted to adjust to her new circumstances, but alas, that backfired on them when the girl tried to jump off the roof!!

reply

I had the same thought. Jerrica knew right off what was going on and was more like "well, all right, carry on" instead of dealing with it. Plus when someone tries to jump off a roof it's straight to rehab, not business as usual.

reply

People weren't nearly as educated when it came to substance abuse, mental health, rehab etc at the time. What seems like common sense to us in the 21st century was not so back then.

reply

I think it's supposed to be a reflection of the fact that Jerrica is still very, very young and not really geared to be a mother figure. Mrs. Bailey was probably on vacation. lol.

reply

You're looking at it from an adult's point of view. The show, and this episode in particular was aimed directly at young children, who wouldn't find anything "cliche" or "corny".

reply

What if it had ended with Ashley still turning him in, but not because drugs are bad.

What if she narc'ed on him so she could steal his stash and sell it around campus herself?

I found the animation in that episode kind of creepy. But every now and again I've noticed the animation is different and takes a more creepy appearance.

reply

That might explain Ashley's behavior in the earlier episodes where she was stealing money and hanging with the "bad" crowd lol

reply

Creepy in what way?

reply

I didn't think it was amusing, but to each their own. I thought it was a moving story.
