The writer of Edge of Darkness, Troy Kennedy Martin, has died aged 77.

Another man done gone.

In England he's probably best remembered for the hugely influential cop series Z cars, and for scripting The Italian Job. If the makers of the remake of Edge of Darkness have any sensitivity, they should dedicate it to his memory.

Troy wrote some wonderful stuff and this was among his best.

RIP Troy, and thank you for 'Edge of Darkness'. My favourite TV drama.
