does anyone remember the scene with paul macca?

i used to wacth this show and i remember i liked it although i cant remember much about it.
i remember one where someone bumps into linda mcCartney, and invite her round to the house, when she arrives it is the mother who is there, and most of the jokes were about vegetarianism. the punchline of the whole show was when at the end the rest of the family or some of them, arrive at the house just as she is leaving, and it is sir paul who is picking her up.
he asks her "did u get me a piece of cake then",
the members of the family who witness this are gobsmacked, and are left silenced with shock. did this happen or was it a dream?

reply

YES! I remember this so well! The look on the family's face when they saw who was leaving and the mother had no idea who had just been at her house... absolute classic :)

"It's not easy having a good time. Even smiling makes my face ache."

wow i would love to see a repeat does anyone know about dvds

First four seasons available from Play - anyone know anything about later seasons?

(I do wonder if season 5 on is good - though - the plot lines seem to be running out at the end of 4)

reply

would like to point that although seasons 1-4 are available, season 4 is only half complete. The box states that series 3 and 4 are complete but only seven shows are on the dvds when in fact at least 5 shows are not there plus the special of avelines wedding. Also season four sees the first appearance of cousin shifty and Peter Howitt is still in the role of Joey

I remember watching that a few months back on uktv drama as well. I'm 21, so of course I'm too young to remember it being on oringinally. I was surpised that the mum didn't click on who the MacCartneys where.

What you said is true. I watched this episode this morning on G.O.L.D on UK Sky channel.

The person who invited Linda round was Billy as he was selling sandwiches outside the radio station where she was promoting an animal shelter.

Ma Boswell didn't recognise who Linda was when she popped round after Billy had invited her round for tea and they were taling about vegetarism and men!

The family member who was gobsmacked at the end was Joey. There was no other family member there.

And you're right that Paul did pick her up and did say "Did you get me some cake then?"

For anyone in the UK, this is being shown every morning at 7:40am on Gold and is repeated at a later time on G.O.L.D.+1

reply

Yeah it was indeed on G.O.L.D Tuesday! Those scenes with Linda and Paul just show that Bread then in 1988 (the series G.O.L.D is showuing at present) was when it was at it's very best I think (though Jack was not in Series 4).

It's terrific mixture of storylines in Series 4 showed how excllent a-timeSeries 4 was and still is I think and would not hesitate to say.
