I didnt get the ending
I mean wtf happened?
share"A love/hate relationship can lasts a very long time" as Kate Capshaw told Michael Douglas in the movie Black Rain which describes Captain White and Tracy Tzu' relationship with each other.
shareIs it just me or is it pretty bad that Stanley quickly reconciled with Tracy whereas he forgets about his wife whom he was in part responsible for her death?
shareStanley and his wife marriage was over anyway and Stanley having an affair with Tracy was the final act in a long line of acts that ended it.
Stanley was not responsible for his wife's death - blame Joey Tai and the NYPD. You also have to remember that Stanley and his immediate boss (who was his friend) told Stanley that everyday, people make deals to keep the city run smoothly and it seems that Stanley had broken a unwritten deal between police and the leading members of Chinatown (who were criminals themselves). Early in the movie, Stanley went alone into an illegal gambling joint and the Joey Tai and his criminal friends were tick off because they had a deal with the police not to interfere in Chinatown. After being giving the lecture by his friend/boss, Stanley told him that it was those deals that got his wife killed, and his friend was shock by Stanley's remark probably because he knew that Stanley was right.
A large shipment of drugs were inside a Mercedes aboard a freight ship (Kamirez Polski?) - White was onto Joey Tai and he knew he was finished.
share"The only change they asked me to make, which to this day I still find inexplicable because I think it sums up the movie, was to the very last line. At the end of the movie, there's another fight that breaks out on Mott Street, during a funeral parade. Mickey is in the middle of the mêlée, Tracy runs in and picks him up off the ground, they both look like survivors of a war. The camera closes in. If you look closely, you can see that their not saying the line that you're hearing. The last line of the movie was, Stanley looks at her and says, 'Well, I guess if you fight a war long enough, you end up marrying the enemy.' 'Oliver Stone' himself is married to a Vietnamese girl right now. I'm sure you'll see American's with Iraqi women at some point. For reasons that I can't understand, that line was not acceptable, so I took a line from some other place in the movie and I slipped it in and it doesn't make any sense at all. But that line, that sums up the whole movie." - Michael Cimino (on the studio enforced change to the ending)
