Fu*k the Razzie Awards

I fu*king hate the Razzie Awards. How can they even nominate a awsome movie like this?? The Razzie members are just a bunch of wannabe actors, writers and directors. Can someone explain why they never give razzie nominations to black movies? Why havn't Martin Lwarence been nominated, he is just terrible.

I think the movie Top Secret with Val Kilmer should have been given the Razzie Awards. One of the worst movies I have seen in my life and I actually walk out the theater after about a half hour of the show.

If Cimino had never directed the notorious flop "Heaven's Gate", I dount "Dragon" would've been nominated for any Razzies -- except maybe for Ariane, who critics lambasted but I found perfectly adequate in her role.

@jack - Ariane totally deserved it, but I have to agree - the Razzies that time were about Cimino, Hollywood's favorite punching bag of a director.

For people who actually like spoofs, 'Top Secret' is arguably the best comedy spoof film ever made. Val Kilmer's singing and dancing is great in it too.

...Wait Siptea! You forgot your funny dog poo.

P.S. I agree with Sommersby. Ariane was let down in a couple of scenes by implausible scripting and lazy direction by Cimino (should've had a second take and directed her better on how to act), but overall, wasn't too bad. She actually sounded exactly like a reporter in the scenes she does to camera. That's how reporters speak, all rigid, because reporters ARE failed actors, afterall.

Who's that old biddy (granny) who tries to ruin 'Goodfellas'? Scorsese's Mum? She should get a 'Razzie'/bullet in the head...Although she's probably very nice and can make great apple pie.[Edit - Yes, it was Scorsese's Mum, but she died of Alzheimer's Disease in 1997...Hey! I did say she seemed nice!]

The Razzies are decided by psychotically self-important, left wing, extremist, scum.

The Razzies are just a vehicle by which anarchists (spoilt and born with a silver spoon in their mouth) defame and pick on someone who they feel is a symbol of what they (have been led to) believe (by the associated press's choice of 4 different stories per day, which the 'meme machine' then spreads as though they were important) is bad about 'society'.

...LOL! 'Society' - Who'd be brainwashed enough to believe in that myth in the first place?

Does Val Kilmer really sing? You are the one in dog poo. How do you know that all reporters are failed actors. I watch Democracy Now and the Amy Goodman and Juan Gonzalez were never actors in their lives. If reporters are failed actors, then you could applied that to the reporters of FOX News; although, they seem to have done a good job of brainwashing people.

I don't understand how this was considered to be one of the worst movies of '85. When people think of great films from the action-crime genre, they usually think Scorsese, Mann, early Tarantino, Coppola, but not too many will mention this movie. For me, this is without a doubt, one of the best of its genre. It just might be my favorite Mickey Rourke film, too. I just recently found an original theatrical poster from the movie and it's now proudly displayed in my bedroom. Whenever Mickey is onscreen in this movie, he's just so damn cool. He's also one of only two people who can make crying seem like an act of masculinity (The other being Ron Perlman). John Wayne is a p()ssy in comparison to Rourke. Is there anything Big Bad Mick can't do?

"Top Secret" is one of the funniest films of all time. Shame you decided to leave a half-hour in, you're missing a classic!

It's odd, considering Year of the Dragon was also nominated for two Golden Globes for John Lone's performance and the musical score... This movie obviously got VERY muddled reactions...

The Razzie's must have been desperate that year for nominations. I am sure Stallone did a couple of films that year!

Its that man again!!

reply

Well, Stallone was the star of that year's Razzies!

The film is ridiculous in places but no way it deserved Razzies!
