Shot in 70mm. Screenplay by stone. A masterpiece from the 80's.

I watched a HD version and it looked incredible. One of the best looking movies ever. A proper blu version needs to be released.

In the US that would be up to Warner Brothers as I believe they now have the rights to the film and it is possible they would do it as they are prepping a blu-ray of Friedkin's Crusing right now which is a much more obscure 80's cop film.

I've never seen this film before but it looks really good. I keep checking to see if the Blu-Ray is coming out, and nothing ever gets announced. It looks like a stunning Neo-Noir film and would look great at 1080p. Just needs to come out already!

French bluray just came out.

Yes, but sadly, it is not English friendly.

The original soundtrack is included in English, but about 1/3 of the film's running time is in spoken Mandarin Chinese. In US versions, there were extensive subtitles for those lengthy scenes. But, in the French release, the subs are ONLY available in French.

Otherwise, that release is getting very high marks for its quality. Great picture and sound, and even some extras.

Hopefully, a US release is forthcoming.

I keep hoping that since Criterion and Warner Bros. are now collaborating, finally, that Criterion might release this. They released the definitive blu of Cimino's "Heaven's Gate".
