You must be pretty young. Chet is not all that uncommon. Ever hear of Chet Atkins?

my age is not an issue. I posted this question about 6 months ago. So all my questions have been answered.

The fact is Chester is not a name given in Australia unless it was your pet dog. It sounds more common in US or other countries.

Its a very americana name. just found out this year that is short for Chester. :)

reply

Well, DUH. The movie was made in the US. Not Austraila.

The name enjoyed more popularity in the past, notably due to the 21st President of the United States Chester A. Arthur.

Chet is usually short for Chester. I get the impression the name Chester was more popular years ago. I knew a Chet when I was growing up in Clifton, NJ USA in the '70s.
