Does louden Get The Girl? Your Theories?

The ending kinda leaves it open for thought. I would like to think he does.

no, i don't think so, because at the end he refers to his "time with carla" so i think that when they said goodbye in the locker room it was the last time they saw each other.

I read the book that was the basis for the screenplay several years ago. In it, as I remember, Louden has Carla the entire time, and maintains a relationship with her the whole time. The "get the girl" subplot was contrived for the screenplay. By the way, this is an awesome movie-I don't know what the hell some of the people who are critical have been watching. I just watched it, and also noticed interestingly that it doesn't look and seem as dated as an almost twenty year old movie should.

No, he doesn't get her in the movie. However, this was an outstanding movie. Much better than it's given credit for on IMDB.

Does Louden get Carla in the end? Who cares, he got what he wanted from her. In the eighties Scoring was all that mattered, the possibility of a lasting relationship was just an unexpected bonus (or not, depends on the person).

Yes because it's a movie and movies always end that way. Of course we all know it doesn't work that way in real life. It's very rare to get a woman you want. Louden liked her the first time he saw her but if that happened in real life with someone, it be rare for him to get her. The woman has to be interested in him and want to spend the rest of her life with him.

I think this is based on fantasies so they put it in movies and in books.

Of course we can think they break up eventually because things don't work out between them, they grow apart, etc. if we want it to be reality.

He does in my opinion. Yes he did lose his virginity to an older woman and feels great about it but he is also in love with her and she motivates him to beat Shout. But, the last time that Carla see's Louden is at the Shout match. It leaves you wondering if they'll stay together, and if Louden will get a wrestling scholarship. If they made a sequel this is how I think the plot would go: Louden would wrestle in college on a scholarship, and Carla would come and visit him and they would have a long term relationship.

How old was Carla supposed to be? I got the impression she was not planning on staying in Spokane. I can't imagine her in a relationship with a college kid.
