the Pelé/Six minutes speech
That scene always makes me cry. Great speech!
Officer Collins: You see, a pimp's love is very different from that of a square.

I cite it as one of the greatest movie monologues.
I think I shall never pee on life as lovely as a tree
Definitely one of the highlights of this film (which has several--why didn't the quotes include Louden's "it really does make you hungry!" as he woofs pizza after finally losing his virginity, lol?)
The process of getting there is the quality of being there
Classic stuff. I was taken aback when I watched Vision Quest for the first time and heard Pele mentioned. Great monologue.

It was a great scene!
shareJust watched it tonight for the first time in oh, I guess, about 27 years, and I was moved by the scene as well. This movie was a true diamond in the rough in the challenged 80's decade of B-movie cinema.
Right. Well, I have to-- I have to go now, Duane, because I, I'm due back on the planet Earth.
agree, great dialogue and acted very well. I think that it is why people like sports so much, and why a lot of guys like this movie even if they weren't a wrestler. yes the winning and losing, but what special athletes can do that the rest of us can't, even for a moment. Nice post
shareJ.C. Quinn, who portrayed Elmo, also co-starred in the 1989 movie "Gross Anatomy", where Matthew Modine portrayed Joe Slovak and Quinn portrayed Joe's Father, Papa Slovak.
