Whoa 3.5 stars from Ebert
Im surprised Ebert regarded this film that highly. Don't get me wrong, its a fun movie to watch, but def not close to the 4-star category.

shareYou should go back and watch it again.
shareI just watched this last night for the first time since its release in 1985 and I must say that despite the 80s look and feel, this movie holds up surprisingly well. Nice balance of coming of age story with a Rocky-style (though not overdone)sports movie and the Louden character manages for the most part, to avoid all the typical teen cliches.
shareJust watched the movie and then read the review and my jaw nearly hit the floor. I thought he would have some choice words but his praise was high indeed. There were a lot of great integers in this formula film including a kick ass soundtrack (Madonna!) but the final solution lacked chemistry of what 2016 considers a great film.
The Pele monologue was a high water mark
I tell you what.
