I love this film

I didn’t think much of it back when I first saw it as a kid in the theaters, but over the years, it has grown on me. Why? Because:

1 - it is really a James Bond film. Practical effects, John Barry music, Roger Moore (little old but it’s him). Real sets, real locations, real stunts. It’s a FUN film that follows the formula
2 - Christopher Walken. It looks like he’s having so much fun with the role. I love the way he delivers lines.
3 - Grace Jones is a bit scary, but for once, this is a woman I believe can beat up a man without the assistance of wires and fancy editing. Imagine her as Wonder Woman, or at least one of the Amazons..
4 - Tanya Roberts. She has NEVER looked more gorgeous than in this film. I mean, wow. She also comes across as believable and approachable, easily among the best American Bond girls (unlike Tiffany Case and a certain nuclear scientist or even Kim Basinger).
5 - did I mention fun? Because it has been a few decades since the last fun Bond film. Daniel Craig films are too depressing. Brosnan always seemed to smug for me. Dalton had zero humor but did have the last true Bond film, IMO.
6 - the theme song. No, not that Beach Boys song, but the Duran Duran one. Gotta love it. Very catchy!
7- Patrick McNee! Any Bond film with a true Avenger in it is a-ok by me!
8 - Alison Doody. Remember her from Indiana Jones? She is pretty here too, even if the role is very small.

This film isn’t perfect, but I’ll take it over all the Bond films since that time.

I like it for many of the same reasons, notably 1, 2, 5, and 6.

It is the best Roger Moore Bond movie in my opinion. The story is easy to follow, Christopher Walken is a great evil genius villain and the soundtrack is great. I also feel the climax of the movie at the San Francisco bridge is underrated as it is a final fight and a cliffhanger and Walkens reaction before he is about to die is one of the most unique reactions of a villain ever. He smiles to himself kind of and laughs a bit as if he realized the absurdity of it all, of him losing everything so easily. I believe that part of acting was improvised on Walkens part.

what a great neat action opening sequence breaking into beach boys "california girls" at one moment, wish that was on the soundtrack cd, the opening reminds of the one in "the spy who loved me". what a great cast with patrick macnee joining in, as he was hiding in the stable, if dr mortner had just turned his head would've seen him. the snoring was almost cartoon like. a common question is who the most evil villain is, if he wasn't wrong in the head, i would say max zorin, the way he fires at the workers just for fun and doesn't even care that may day will be among the victims, christopher walken also is funny in the part, the outbursts he gets and the face expressions. notice gogol hardly moves his mouth when he talks. dolph lundgren has a role name in the credits even though it isn't spoken in the movie.

i need you to be madeleine for a while,
instructed you how to talk,
in what way to walk,
made you up to look like a copy,
put the same sort of clothing on your body,
down to every bit of hair,
to be an imitation of madeleine.
