sugar coated trainwreck with no consequences
i understand why it was enjoyed and acclaimed by audiences; it's a real "sit down in it" experience. some may find that boring or lame. ok. -1 for that but the overall grip it has isn't poor. i tried to look for a deeper meaning to it, but it sums itself up when it weakly reveals the meaning of the title; stuff happens. really though, not @#$% happens but "stuff" because it's that weak.
on the note--no pun intended--that people have commented here on the sacred imdb board about how it exploits the 80s obsession with saxophones, it was hardly as cheesy and dumb as the performance in "the lost boys" and NOTHING as embarrassingly painful/painfully embarrassing as "buckaroo banzai". it was just... something but when you consider that the same stupid music keeps playing repeatedly through the film it might turn you off BUT... the most meaningful sax heard is after the sax player hits a low point and actually, that performance in the soundtrack is actually an example of how good sax playing can be; it's got real edge and soul that works in a subtle, mocking/ironic way as it's actually pretty cool.
the worst part is that it's a weak tease as a drama. lots of dipping into "bad" but coming back up with no stains. i think that's enough.
