Misheard lyrics the John Parr hit song

In the John Parr song, there's a line that goes "Soldier on, only you can do what must be done."

Until the late 1990s or so, I thought it was, "So Gerard, only you can do what must be done."

Anybody else make that mistake?

I did too! Ha, I never realized it was wrong until I saw your post!

I know this an old post, but I just have to share my misheard lyrics of this song.

I was 15 when it came out and bought the single in summer of '85.

Towards the end of the song where Parr sings:

"I can hear the music playing, I can see the banners fly"

Now don't laugh....but I always heard (and also sang along)....

"I can hear the music playing, I can see the pandas fly"

Yes, I did wonder to myself that it made absolutely no sense, but I liked the image of pandas flying, so that's how I always allowed myself to hear it.

It wasn't until many years later online when I read the lyrics that I laughed out loud saying...."ohhhh! THAT'S what he's saying!"

But you know what?...I still prefer the image of the pandas flying and continue singing it that way. :)

"Gonna be a man in motion, all I need is a pair of wings."

I used to think "blazin' sky" was "Cajun sky".

"You know that place between sleep and awake?...That's where I'll always love you." - Tinkerbell

"Wrapped up like a douche, another rumor in the night?" Heh heh.

"Well, the world needs ditch diggers, too."

"Warm smell of colitis rising up through the air."

I finally saw all the lyrics on youtube. I knew some of them, but not all of them. It happens because singers aren't always clear when they sing *beep*
