The Region 2 DVD IS PAN AND SCAN :(
The Region 2 DVD IS [Full Frame only!:( surely they would have a 16:9 version? Very disapointed, considering Warner's are careful with their Aspect Ratio's

I just bought the region 2 release from Asda today. My guess is from looking at it 'blown up' on my 16:9 ratio TV, it's not Pan and Scan but an Open Matte. So if you zoom up (don't stretch!) the picture so the left and right sides of the image hit the edge of your TV, you're getting the correct aspect ratio...or as near as can be. Try it and check out the picture framing, the titles etc.
Looks ok.
And it's still a fun movie after all these years.
Great lines. Vanessa Angel's hot as ever. Bob Hope! And Steve Forrest looking pished out of his tree in every scene.
I bought this for £5 but hell I'd pay double that...and that's saying a lot these days for a full screen DVD with no features or chapter selection.
Goodnight everybody!
Yes just as the other person says, it's not P&S, but it's open matte.. I've watched the movie last saturday, and the first thing I noticed was the open space above and below and the small centering of the main titles, so I zoomed the image to 16:9 and watched it completely in that mode, it looked much better that way, and nowhere did it look cut-off.. So it really was an open matte version..
Mind you this is one of the first dvd's out I guess, it even has mono sound..
But yes it would have been better if they released an anamorphic widescreen with good sound..
