Dang, I didn't know he died. He was a great actor. I loved how he almost did a Leslie Nielsen type of transformation near the end of his career, doing comedies with a completely dead pan delivery. I loved him in this and Amazon Woman On The Moon. "Wait! Is someone in this closet?".

I never picked up on it as a kid, but was his character in Spies intended as a parody/homage of Sterling Hayden's character (the crazed and paranoid air force general) in Dr. Stranglove? They were both similiar in some respects, right down to their looks.
