Laura Dern, Not For Nothing...

really doesn't look like she's only 15 in this. Maybe it's me but she still looks like a grown woman albiet a very young woman. If she was 15 then Ms. Dern was really very tall, even as a teen.

How old was she actually in this movie? She looks older than 15,16 or even 17 to tell you the truth. Anyone know?

She was 18 during the filming. I couldn't believe it myself, had to subtract her DOB from the movie filming date in my head 5x. I was looking here to see which girl was supposed to be playing the 15yo, I thought Laura Dern was going to be the girl's mother. No wonder she looks so old these days.

You should see her in Foxes. She's about 12 and looks 18, pretty much has a woman's body. When I was 12, I looked about 7. Everyone's different.

yeah i look alot younger than my age too, i am 37 but everyone says i look like i can be between 24-29.

Laura may have been a bit old to play a fifteen-year-old, but a lot of fifteen-year-old girls nowadays look as physically mature as she did then.

A fellow has to be careful these days!

All the universe . . . or nothingness. Which shall it be, Passworthy? Which shall it be?

Eighteen year old Laura was perfectly cast for this movie and this is one of my all time favorites.

I agree...I read that the director auditioned many actresses but none felt right for the role...When she met Laura, it was as if she had found her Connie...

Also, I read Roger Ebert's review of this movie and must agree with him...Laura looks like a full grown woman in some scenes and like a child in others...This is why her performance is one of the best of 1985...She is amazing and this is one of my favorite movies of all time.

Yeah, Laura always looked much older than her age. See examples such as "Ladies and Gentlemen the Fabulous Stains" and "Foxes." She was super tall at an early age and always seemed older.

Ladies and Gentleman, the Fabulous Stains is a GREAT movie, and yes, Laura Dern looked older than her years in that film. In Mask, too. She just had one of those faces. Her body looked like that of a teen. If they hadn't had her friends look so much younger-Jill looked 12-I think she would have been a more believable 15 year old. My husband thought Connie was older than June, the way June acted and looked.

Absolutely. Her performances blow me away every time.
