Other movies like 'Smooth Talk'?

I'm not talking about your typical teen-melodrama, I'm talking about movies that transcendent the teen-angst genre, like this one does. It's not about teenagers, it's about a young woman coming to terms with the world around her. Only one I can think of is Out of the Blue (1980).

Yes I know about Stand by Me (1986), Twelve and Holding (2006), Heavenly Creatures (1994), Sweetie (1989), An Angel at My Table (1990).

But are there some undiscovered gems left out there? I've never heard of this one before I saw it and it blew my mind.

The best movie EVER!! Is it on DVD? I have a crap VHS copy that I taped off of HBO in 1986.

While not a teen drama (character are in their mid 20s) and more of a drama, it is a low budget perfect little movie with a star cast; "Shattered Glass."

My Girl (1991)
Girl Interrupted (1999)
The Virgin Suicides (1999)
Thirteen (2003)

All of these movies are about teenage girls with some dark twist in them.
