Silverado, brilliant western.

I got this gem in a clear out sale the other day.

I so love this film, it really captured the spirit of the westerns of old. Good guys vs bad guys, great adventure, a little romance and a dash of humour.

Why cant we have good solid stories like this now.

A fine cast, esp. the males... the testosterone leaps off the screen! and a great 'tribute' western. My family said "where's the dog?" and "I guess it's just - bad luck" for years after. Fabulous sound, by the way - just re-watchin my mint 'vhs' copy with the volume cranked on the stereo. awesome.

NBA all-star game used the theme one year.

Indeed!
To me Silverado is the perfect western. It is not the best western ever made and not even my favorite (also it is in my top 5 - #1 is "the good the bad and the ugly") but it has everything a great movie and a great western needs.
There are a few movies that I think are slghtly better but are sometimes lacking in some parts.

To me, this movie has always been about respect, friendship, and doing the right thing when it would be easier to turn away. In my opinion, it's the best 'buddy flick' ever made, before the term became well worn. Framing it as a western was simply the icing on the cake.
