Say that it's 1965...Who plays the parts?

Who would you pick to play the characters if Silverado were made in 1965?

I'd choose:

Paden - John Wayne

His old partner and nemesis Cobb - Forrest Tucker

Emmett - Dean Martin

Jake - Jack Nicholson

Mal - Jim Brown

Tyree - Dennis Hopper

Rae - Lola Falana

Hannah - Jane Fonda

Slick - Richard Anderson

Stella - Coleen Dewhurst (taller, but has the right personality and looks)

Sheriff Langston - Paul Fix (would have played it more traditionally)

Hobart (wagon train leader) - Edgar Buchanan

McKendrick - Warren Oates

And a fine stable of western character actors for all the bit parts of deputies, outlaws and the like, whose faces you would immediately recognize:

RG Armstrong, Morgan Woodward, Robert J Wilke, John Dehner, Jack Elam. Bert Freed, Dabbs Greer, Claude Akins, LQ Jones, Douglas Kennedy, Roy Teal, Peter Whitney, and so on and so on...

Your Choices?

I'd cast Wayne as Cobb

Since you're casting John Wayne, how about a role for the one-and-only Robert Mitchum in there somewhere?
