I love this movie - watched it many many times.
I think Slick was just out for what was best for himself and he thought it was best to cast his lot with whoever had the power in the town and he saw that as being Cobb. He was Rae's lover - I'm not sure what you mean by clients - she was a saloon girl but I never have gotten the impression that she was a prostitute (and saloon girls generally were not - just there to make the saloon more appealing to men and probably encourage the men to drink and gamble).
I think both Paden and Emmett were attracted to Hannah, Paden more so than Emmett, and she to them initially- but when Paden found out about her tough ideas of life and farming, he lost interest. There' s a conversation in the film where he tells Emmett that if he was interested in her, "you won't trip over me if you look her up" to which Emmett replies he is going to California with his brother. So there was some interest going on there - but nothing more ever came of it.
The romantic in me always hoped that maybe in the future sparks would fly again for her and Paden since he stayed on as the new sheriff. Never did get the sequel to this I always hoped for to find out ...
