A friend of mine in his mid-30s (same as me), recommended it to me as his favorite western.
Personally, I didn't really like it. It had its "charm" but, ultimately fell short of being a "great" movie because it was too cliche in some parts. And I realize the opening in Turley (I think that was the name of the town) was to establish the characters and develop the relationship between Paden, Emmett and Mal.
But that whole sequence seemed unfinished and almost not necessary. I felt that these guys would've ultimately returned there and dealt with Langston. Or at least he should've had a stake in Silverado, maybe in cahoots with Cobb or something.
Overall, I gave it five stars. Which I usually give to movies that I finish but have no real desire to ever watch again.
