Why No Sequal????
Why with the last line..."We'll be back" has there been no sequal???
The early bird might get the worm,
But the 2nd mouse gets the cheese!

The funny thing is, within two years, 3 out of the 4 main actors (Kline, Costner, & Glover) all hit with major films. Kline won an Oscar for A Fish Called Wanda, Coster came out with a trio of films (No Way Out, The Untouchables, and Bull Durham), and Glover found the Lethal Weapon franchise.
Imagine trying to sign all three of them after those movies hit. Oddly enough, Scott Glenn became the least famous of them, not appearing in anything major until 1990's The Hunt for Red October.

Scott Glenn already had a big part in 83 as Alan Shepherd in The Right Stuff.

Àššhōłê!
shareTherein lies the reason that no sequel was considered because the decision makers, educated people with a good grasp of basic English, had no idea what kindeyes was talking about.
share$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$...the original did not meet expectations. Too bad as I loved Silverado a/k/a The Big Chill goes west.
shareI seem to remember at the time it was regarded as a failure. There was a lot of hype about reviving/reinventing the Western but it just didn't happen. Which may or may not be a pity but personally I always liked this film.
shareNot a huge failure it did pull in about 5-6 million more than it cost to make. The problem it had was that the film used too many named actors and hence that pushed up the cost of the movie... of course if they had just used unknowns to make the film it would have grossed even less because at the time they were pushing the number of named stars to promote the film which would have otherwise been an unpromotable western that would have completely bombed.
