I just said the same thing when I saw the Christmas story was made in 1983.

First half feels kinda like a 50s or 60s movie, but the second half feels very 80s, even though the kids are playing with rocking horses rather than Transformers or She-Ra figures.

The art direction at the North Pole really dates the movie.

I think the film crew wanted a retro aesthetic of the North Pole and Santa’s workshop.
