I recently watched this movie for the first time. The things that leaped out at me were...
1) COKE
2) Reindeer food which resembled a big bowl of crystally buds.
3) The 'elves at work' scenes reminded me of tripping on magic mushrooms.
4) Sweets that make you fly.
It was just one big drugs binge :)

well,...."sweets (etc.) that make you fly"----that IS the partial origins of much of our modern Christmas!---check out Siberian shamans and their ancient practice of gathering the sacred (Red and White polka-dot)Amanita Muscaria mushrooms and bringing them in to dry "along the mantel of a fireplace"---while raindeer munched on whatever grew on the ground outside at that time of year---yes, mushrooms, of which Amanitas can often cause the sensation of flying, or some kind of absolute freedom (magical)
Next time you go shopping for santas, or see old xmas santa deco---notice how many times Santa used to actually be clothed in a red suit with white polka dots, which later diluted into his current red and white suit---And don't forget---Jesus was also pictured most always wearing red and white garments as well 😀
