A film very much of two halves ...n deserving of a proper remake!

While the first half of this film (as a "Hollywood" Santa origin story) is near-perfect, the second half is questionable on numerous and indeed many levels... and is what ultimately brings everything down overall!

This was very poorly recieved on its initial release - at the box-office, critically AND by audiences! - however (largely thanks to its "Santa Claus: The Movie" title and decent effects for its time) it has become somewhat of a semi-classic amongst Christmas movies.

SO methinks (even though we are all SICK of inferior remakes of films-from-way-back-when) - this is ONE that is actually deserving of a PROPER remake (correctly-done CGI n all!!)...and could even be a good and a MAJOR crowd pleaser!

I agree with the first half of your post, but the second half brings everything down.

This film does not need a remake.
