Did Claus and Anya freeze to death?

Something I've always wondered about: do Claus and Anya freeze to death after leaving the village? When they wake up and see the Elves it looks like there in a different place then where they were. The bright light shining from the sky (elf village) could be interpreted as heaven. Dooley tells them that they've been waiting a long time for them. Later when they show Claus all the toys and he tells them he wouldn't live long enough to deliver them all, Dooley said they will both live for ever, like them. Is that because there already dead? Or were Claus and Anya just magically brought back to life and made immortal?

If that's the case then I find it odd that Heaven is like the real world , Santa shouldn't feel bad about not wanting to deliver gifts because of the way of the world, there shouldn't be a BZ guy up to no good, etc.

They froze to death.

Yes, they freeze to death and their spirits are transported to the North Pole, where Claus will now have the new job as being the spirit of XMAS as Santa Claus. Because they had died, they are now like angels, they live forever.
