its been 30 years since Santa Claus: The Movie came out and it focused on how a toy peasant named Claus became a magical mythological Christmas legend named Santa Claus to bring presents to all the children in the world and then the sub-plot of the film focused on Patch, one of Santa's elves make a deal with a sinister toy maker, B.Z. who plans to rule Christmas with an iron-fist. The movie was done by the Salkinds who did the first-three movies of Superman and it was directed by Jeannot Szwarc who previously directed Jaws 2, Somewhere in Time and Supergirl. it gained cult status on Home Video and on TV after it didn't do well at the Box-Office thanks to Rocky IV.

Watching it now! Sure, the script was a bit sloppy, but I love the rough, almost gritty look of the film, especially the New York scenes. Movies these days all have to be so clean and perfect looking, there's no humanity to them.

I love the reindeer. I always love the reindeer. In this movie they are the saviors of Santa Claus IMO.

The beginning almost has a Fantasia quality to it.

B.Z. is the main antagonist in Santa Claus: The Movie played by John Lithgow. in the film, B.Z. plans to rule Christmas with an iron-fist. at the end, B.Z. floated too high into space when he ate the candy canes to escape capture by the NYPD.

it's hard to believe. I saw it in theaters. It's still a wonderful movie.

2016- may give in and buy it this year. 30 years ago Never Ending Story came out- 35 me took babysitter from childhood to see it on big screen; LOVED this (and McDonalds book) back in the day...
