Did Apolo die from the punch or head hitting the ground?

always wondered this was it the final blow punch that knocked him out cold then his head hitting the ground that killed him? or was he dead before he even hit the ground

Probably a combination of both. I doubt that he would have died in the second it took for Drago to punch him. And we don`t even know for sure that he is dead when he falls. He may have been comatose and on life support for hours after.

Hitting the boxing ring canvas won't kill you as it's not hard enough. It's obviously designed to take falls as it's expected that boxers can be knocked out. Creed died from the punches to the head he received from Drago.

Obviously he died from Drago's punches. The ring didn't affect anything.

Apollo was beaten to death. It was an accumulation of all the blows with the last one polishing him off.

I think it was a combination of Dragos punches and the devastating effects of the AIDs virus, as Apollo was having affairs with multiple women and even had a son of out of wedlock

It makes no difference. This movie is too silly. Why can't Drago knock out Apollo? Drago can't even knock Apollo down after pummeling him repeatedly while Rocky just needed one punch.

Your AIDS theory makes a lot more sense than Apollo being beaten to death by someone who Rocky takes more punches from and then somehow beats even though he lost to Apollo once and barely beat him the second time.
