I remember seeing Rocky IV at the movie theatre...

Completely packed, the audience screaming and cheering like they were at a real us-vs-them fight. The music intensified everything. It was just great!

Then at the lobby the Rocky 4 movie poster book was completely sold out. Then when I went to a store shortly after,The Survivor song Burning Heart was blasting.

I think the young people watching Rocky IV on Netflix for the first time then criticizing it do not get how this movie was perfect for that time.An exciting blockbuster.

I didn't see this movie until the late 90's. It was my favorite until I got older and realized how little substance it actually had. You can tell how popular it was by looking at how much money it took in. It cost 30 mill and brought in something like 130 mill.

Well said.

Awesome story TS! Thank you for posting! Yeah, this movie is awesome as hell and still just as awesome to this day. It's funny how the younger kids of this sissy-generation can't see that. But then again, we're currently living in a world where everyone is offended by everything and you have to be PC about everything. It's nuts! Living in this toxic era has certainly brainwashed a lot of people for the worse, and that's probably why a lot of them don't get the greatness of Rocky IV.

Another thing too a bit off topic, but this was the all-time highest grossing sports film...until The Blind Side came out.

I always wished I had seen this movie when I was five, although I was mainly watching kid movies back then. If I were a little older, my parents would've taken me.

Awesome story OP! I really wish I'd seen it at the theater and I honestly have no idea why I didn't. I loved the Rocky movies, and I'd seen Rocky III at the theater.

I first saw it about a year later. We watched it over the course of two days in seventh grade science class just before Christmas break. I remember jokingly rooting for Drago and the Soviets and this one girl turning around and shooting me daggers with her eyes.

Always hate myself having never seen this in theatres. Seeing movies in the theatres during the 80s were literally events. Lots of fun and fun atmosphere during big movie releases. I did see it later on when it was released on VHS within a year. If there were actual time machines, I would sent myself back to be able to have the opportunity to watch this with a packed crowd.

I saw it in the theater with my family when I was 3 years old. I have next to no memories, though. I just remember bright yellow lights and the "Eye Of The Tiger" song.
