Which Rocky movie had the best training montage?

Rocky 4 for the win and I'm sure lots of people will agree but there might be a few out there that prefer the original cult classic of Rocky first running up the Philadelphia steps, or being accompanied by determined kids, getting touchy-feely with Apollo on the beach, or being accompanied by his dog. I personally love the intense training and running up a mountain to the tune of Hearts on Fire so Rocky 4 for me!

Hard to choose.

Rocky's montage was the original, it was a trailblazer.

Rocky II had two great montages. The first being soundtracked by 'Going the Distance' (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GvQkl7qa6RQ) and the second featuring the classic Rocky theme and the awesome part where all the kids chase Rocky and he pulls away from them sprinting damn fast.

III would probably be my favorite, 'cause you're seeing Rocky finally coming good after struggling so much before, so it's really satisfying to watch him master all the new techniques he's learning like the apollo 'dance' and swimming etc. Seeing Apollo and Rocky racing on the beach was really cool, too.

IV had the Hearts on Fire montage as well as the electronic themed montage (https://youtu.be/7lkpDrP2oT4?t=16m7s). Seeing Rocky run up mountains and training in spectacular snowy scenery was pretty new and inventive (matching Rocky's training up against to Drago's high tech training was another cool thing).

V didn't really have one, and VI's one sucked.

All in all, I'd say III is the best from a story perspective (seeing the character improve finally) while IV is probably the best just from a pure scale/action angle. At the same time, all the montages from II-IV are pretty amazing in their own way.

He was my C.O. in Nam. CIA listed him as MIA but the V.A. ID'd his M.O. and put out an APB.

All of them were good. But for me, personally, the one in Rocky III at the beach in L.A. is my favorite. The whole redemption thing for Rocky, that scene rules.

Not only is it Rocky 4 but to boot its among the best training montages in movie history across all genres of sport.

The contrast of the villain's hi tech training gym with Rocky training down to Earth using nature and the environment to get in shape was AWESOME.

For me it's Rocky II.
