Did Drago get shot afterwards?

After humiliating the Russian government with his crushing loss to some tiny American, do you think they shot him as punishment?

I think in the trivia section Sylvester Stallone has commented that Drago turned to alcohol and steroids and then eventually committed suicide.

Conquer your fear, and I promise you, you will conquer death.

Well there was an unofficial novel called "Drago: On Mountains We Stand" which tells of Drago's life after the Rocky IV match.

"I'm the dude, playing a dude that's disguised as another dude".

Drago would not have been immediately punished. On the contrary, the Soviets would have put a positive spin on his defeat to save face. They would have told everyone how fantastic it was that a Soviet-trained athlete who's never competed professionally was able to almost go the full distance against the famous champion Rocky.

Drago would therefore have still been celebrated in the immediate aftermath. But he would have later been put permanently out of the spotlight to forget the real embarrassment that he lost. He wouldn't have been shot or imprisoned or anything like that, because if word got out of any severe punishment, then that would effectively be an acknowledgement of how bad his loss was actually considered.

Didn't the 1980 Olympics Russian team get arrested after losing?

I can't seem to find any reference to this online. Anyone able to help?

Maybe during Stalin's Soviet Union, but by the time this movie came out, I think Gorbachev was their leader, and he wasn't exactly known as the tyrant that the previous leaders were. Hell I don't think any of them were as bad as Stalin was. Stalin would have for sure had him put up against a wall.

I thought I could paint it red, but I couldn't find enough goats.
