Its an Epic. take it or leave it...

cinematography, art direction, costumes, props, sets etc.. ALL AMAZING!
you can't not deny this.. grand scale movie..

the accents... well so what!! I doubt any actor alive today could put on such an accent from a period 300 years ago in that area..

the script.. emmm well classic story really, war, love etc etc the screenplay wasnt the greatest, but this is not suppose to be a documentary. so the hardcore history buffs, need to lay off...

Pacino was fine in this.. sometimes epics just don't find their audience.

I liked it. We need more American revolution movies.

reply

Yup....people complain about the lack of original stories in Hollywood and you can count the American Revolution movies on two hands. One of the most significant events in western civilization and nary a film on it....sigh

It was an epic that failed in many levels. As it was so unentertaining was one of them.

When young Ricky Butcher is out acting Pacino, you know the film is in trouble!

Its that man again!!

This film has certainly quality but it looks too european and cold to be liked by an american audience
One film that follows a similar approach but is much better, just like this movie could have been, is the hungarian movie 'the red and the white', about the russian civil war. I'd suggest this instead

I'd love to see some more, but not like this.🐭

Yeah since it´s this "epic" I guess we´re supposed to overlook the incoherent, muddled script, the schmaltzy melodrama, the generally awful dialogue, the lack of any notable character development and the uniformly bad acting (Kinski being the particularly unfortunate standout in these regards). It´s a thoroughly silly film, almost as bad as Braveheart.

Yeah, this film is better than the academy award winning Braveheart. Sure buddy.

I understand YOU might not like it, but the fact is it's almost universally acclaimed and loved. This film is not.

"The academy award winning Braveheart".

You mean the award that´s also been won by moronic sh-t like Forrest Gump, Titanic and A Beautiful Mind?

"But the fact is it´s almost universally acclaimed and loved".

A quite irrelevant fact at that; never had much use for fallacies myself and don´t fancy encountering them when presented by others, either.

Say what you will about the thoroughly inaccurate Braveheart, but it's still a hugely entertaining film.

As is Forrest Gump and Titanic.

They're not exactly chores to sit through.

Limit of the Willing Suspension of Disbelief: directly proportional to its awesomeness.
