Milla Jovovich for Sonja? Whos playing Kalidor?
She looked great with red hair in the fifth element, and is definately a better choice than bloody kiera knightley! Any one have any idea who might be on for Kalidor?
shareWOW yes im with you all the way for Milla Jovovich as Red Sonja! She was awesome in the battle scenes in Joan of Arc too. Not sure who id have playing Kalidor...it would depend which direction they'd take the character in ..warrior or lord?? Arnold Schwarzenegger only played the character cause it got him out of his contract to do a third film for Dino deLaurentiis after doing Conan the Barbarian and Destroyer.
I believe he agreed to do Red Sonja so he didnt have to do a third Conan movie, and as Destroyer was only a middling success he wanted out to do other things.

Kalidor is completely made up and isn't part of the Red Sonja mythos at all, apart from in the 80's film. Fact is, it was a last minute name replacement when rights issues prevented them from being able to have Arnie play Conan in the film, due to objections from the Howard estate.
The original idea was that Red Sonja was intended to be a spinoff of DeLaurentis' Conan film series, and so Dino had Arnie do this instead of a third Conan in the hopes that it would help launch a new franchise, especially given that Arnie wanted to move on to different roles as his career at the time was really heating up after Terminator became the huge surprise hit that it was, both commercially and critically. However Arnie was still obliged by contract with DeLaurentis to make one more film for the company, so he was only too happy to make this film and "get it out of the way" so that he could put such obligations behind him and move on with his career elsewhere, as he began getting attention from major studios.
But as I said, because of objections from the Howard estate the name Conan was removed and replaced with Kalidor instead, the film turned out to be a bomb, both commercially and critically, and the rest is history.
