As far as i have seen from Akira, i think he is a little manipulative or preachy.In the end of Rashomon, Seven Samurai and Ran the actors talk and tell about what yoy shoyld think on your own.Thhat is the only objection i have with this film, and the reason u gave it a 9!
shareI don't find Ran particularly preachy, it's just a very stylized and theatrical way of presenting the themes. The source material was a play, after all. It isn't supposed be realistic. Now, I do think his last three films (Dreams, Rhapsody in August, and Madadayo) were didactic and preachy in an obnoxious way that did diminish them considerably.
