This one http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0123129/ is sometimes known by that title and is excellent, though a little hard to find. Then there are the other Kurosawa samurai films, Kobayashi, Fu kasaku, Gosha, the Lone Wolf series, Zatoichi, the various tellings of Chushingura... With so much genuine jidai-geki (Japanese period drama) available, I don't know why anyone would want to watch a fake.
