after the boat chase, the boat blows up. Jackie then is seen inside his chief's office and being yelled at. then he goes downstairs and everybody just starts clapping for him. Why were they clapping??

I always presumed it was because the colleagues liked the way JC dealt with the bad guys!

Maybe Jackie said "this movie is gross, i'm gonna go back to HK and make it again", and they're so happy.
If not so, the other answers are right.
