American weapons in the movies particulary handguns always seem to sound like a big weapon and the destructive power of one. In the movie Wind and the Lion, the Marine Captain's small pistol made a loud sound and when he shot a person, there was a large glob of blood spurting out of the person, and the person made a loud yelling sound and did violent body maneurvers to show that he was shot. When the German officer shot someone, it made a small sound, there was no large gaping hole in the person he shot, and the person hardly made a large yelling sound.
