The Big Difference

Now that I am watching this movie again after just watching the first one, I am realizing a really big difference.

The energy level is LOW.

The first movie is full of uplifting, cheerful energy, upbeat flow, if you will.

This movie drags and feels very slow and definitely doesn't have this flow at all. Its low energy makes it more tedious and cumbersome to watch.

If the first movie is a bit manic, this movie is depressive.

That's the big difference between the movies (and thus experiences), and could be why this movie is not as highly regarded.

Of course there are other reasons why this movie fails, it doesn't have as much of a personality of its own, its jokes fall flat compared to the first one, the repeated stuff just feels boring, and the whole thing is very cartoony by comparison (not that the first movie was high-brow entertainment).

It also feels watered-down, after all the nudity and sex jokes of the first one.

The 'march' is also not properly used, and the first movie didn't end with the 'march', but second movie does. It's like it has no personality of its own again.

As a kid, I just liked all of the movies, I couldn't discern them very well.

Now I realize the first movie is a fun, original, upbeat, high-energy movie, whereas the second one is a lame, depressing attempt at cashing-in on the first movie's success.

I wonder if the third one is going to be better, haven't watched these for so long..
