Comedian who played the Gang member in the opening scene
What is his name. I have always liked him but could never remember his name. He is the guy with the high pitched voice. Thanks

shareBobcat Goldthwait
shareHe returns in part 3,by the way
shareWas it his performance as gangleader Zed in PA 2 that got him the role as a regular cadet and later an officer in PA 3 and later?
shareI think they were planning on having him return in the next film from the beginning. An alternate finale scene was filmed for Police Academy 2, which shows Zed as a cadet in a police uniform. The scene was never used in the final film but has been shown on some network versions.
shareEven if they did not have the deleted scene that the last poster was talking about I am sure that it was probably his performace in this movie that got him roles in #3 and #4.
shareYeah, they cut that final scene originally with him and Sweetchuck at the academy as recruits in orientation and Lassard telling Zed he needs a haircut and Zed is displeased. Maybe because they figured they would be doing a third one with them in it, they didn't need to show that then.
shareYes, I played Mojo in PA2, Bobcat wasn't suppose to be in other PA movies when he was hired but on the set he just came alive and stole to movie! They actually had meeting with the Warner Brothers Execs and producers who wanted to give Bobcat more scenes - the Supermarket scene where we all went shopping was a re-shoot to expand Bobcat's role further. At the old Zoo, the director Jerry Paris commented to me and the producer, "I wish I had discovered this kid, I could make a fortune." When the first director on PA2, James Signorelli after two weeks of filming was fired by the studio, they brought in Jerry Paris. It was James Signorelli who hired us both.
shareAnd in Part 4.
shareHis name is Bob (Bobcat) Goldthwait. He played Zed in Police Academy 2,3, and 4. Other credits include Scrooged, Hot to Trot, Radioland Murders, Burglar, One Crazy Summer, and Shakes the Clown, which he also wrote and directed. I wonder if that is how he talks in real life, or if it is just an act.

He did a guest voice spot on The Simpsons a few years back (as himself), with lots of other comedians. His voice was similar to the role as Zed, but not as exaggerated.
:-)
There is no "emoticon" to express what I am feeling right now.
He used to be a real jerk, but now he's a decent guy.
He has talked that way for a long time, it's part of his stand-up comedian persona, but it's not the way he talks in real life. You can occasionally see him in roles where he doesn't talk that way. Like Paul Ruebens who has played Pee-Wee Herman in TV, movies and stand-up so much so that everyone attributes that character to how he really is, but it's just an act and he doesn't really talk like that and you can occasionally catch him in a role acting differently.
Absolutely true. Many years ago, he was in-studio with "Drew and Mike in the Morning," a radio show in Detroit. I have a tape of it, and Bobcat is talking in his normal voice. And he's funny! On stage, he's carrying on the legacy of people like Andy Kaufman, who did outrageous things to get a laugh.
The Falcon flies
Zed is hilarious !. I wish he and Proctor had been in the first Police Academy film too.
