I felt "Once Bitten" was one of the better horror comedies coming out of the eighties that I've seen. I am very surprised at the 5 out of 10 rating it has received. I gave it a 8 out of 10, I enjoyed it that much!

It was just one of those... movies. Sure, I think it should be rated more along the lines of a 6. I gave it a 7. To me, it's one of those movies that has so many stupid moments in it that it's great. A lot of it is actually really funny, just because of the cheesiness.
But yeah, shouldn't be rated a 5. I agree.

My response:
Fortunately, there seems to be this fascination with eighties movies and many movies from that decade are being re-marketed to new and older audiences. I think "Once Bitten" will find it's audience and become a cult classic in time. It's a decent entertaining flick and deserves it!

Yes but would they not charge a bit more for the soundtrack if they included it with the BLU-Ray? I am sure they came out with soundtrack cassettes which are more than likely hard to find now out there.
I remember when they were advertising this back in the mid 80's. I wanted to go see it so I had to wait to watch it when it came out in the old VHS tapes to see this classic gem. I do not know why people complained about the price to go watch a movie back then but was definitely a lot cheaper than now on the cost to go see a movie. I went a couple of nights ago and it cost me to go see Identity Thief and get a large Coke Zero $14.75 almost $15.00. That is a bit high to be honest with you about it. Loved the sound track to this film!
It is a cult film because I remember USA UP ALL NIGHT showing this 80's classic and I am sure it use to air on the weekend movies they would show in the afternoons or during the week late at night. That is when I loved watching some of USA Networks programming back in the day. It was a lot better than how NBC has the programming.
I love films like this and remember watching it on USA UP ALL NIGHT back in the day and I do remember the trailer for this film when I was 13 years old. I wanted to see it when it came out.
I don't get it either – mostly 5s for this film. This was a very enjoyable comedy with a delightful cast. I gave it 7/10, but I'd reserve the right to upgrade if I watch it again.
Yeah, I think it is one of those films that gets better with repeat viewings. I'd view it again, but I've been working my way through a pile of eighties films I'd haven't seen yet and I want to finish those first. But "Once Bitten" is definitely one of those movies I feel is worth revisiting again.

Hello, filmbuff1974 (<------ my favorite year after 1976):
Well, it's been a couple days and "Once Bitten" is still on my mind, so I upgraded my vote to 8/10. This is to the '80s as "Love at First Bite" was to the '70s. It was great to see Jim Carrey in an early role, Lauren Hutton was seductive and hilarious, I laughed many times (which is actually rare with most comedies), the music was irresistible, and this is surprisingly risquee for a PG film. It captures the vibe of 1985 perfectly.

I see you caught that as well. Yes I agree , "Once Bitten" is one of those rare eighties time capsule movies . Only a few movies manage to get into that exclusive club and no one at the time of the movies release could have known it would be one.
Good call!

I agree, 5 is just way too low. It's actually a very entertaining movie that hangs well from beginning to end and has managed to hold up very well over time.
Oddly, it doesn't seem to get a lot of play which is a shame considering the above average cast and that it is just a fun movie all around.
I caught "Once Bitten" on YouTube. It seemed to have a decent amount of registered viewers. Unfortunately I don't remember the channel, but with luck it may still be uploaded somewhere.

Usually when I watch a comedy with a rating of 5/10 or less, I don't expect it to be any good and sometimes even choose to not bother with it for that reason. Lately though I've seen quite a few comedies with low ratings (just because there was some actor or actress in it that I like) and a lot of them deserve much better than their IMDB rating. I watched this one and Cadillac Man yesterday and both deserve to be in the 7/10 area.
Yeah I thought it was a great film to watch myself! I can remember when they were advertising this on TV to get people to go see it. I miss films like this coming out. They still do but the problem is that they are possibly only in select theaters where it does not get a nation wide showing of it.
