DVD/Blu-ray

I think it's about time we had a new DVD or a Blu-ray upgrade for this martial arts classic!

I really wish that a company could re-release the original version from VHS onto DVD and improve the picture quality. The DVD that was released by Universal Pictures in the mid 2000's was awful because they changed some of the music, added idiotic scenes such as RJ on his skateboard being chased by Scott and they cut out some important scenes including character development between Jason/Kelly.

The DVD distributor didn't make those changes. They just put out the international version of the movie, instead of the American cut. But I agree that it's an inferior version.

I agree the international version is not as good (it is awful imho). I just copied the UK version VHS of it onto DVD so do the same (or US version etc).

Just as a stop gap and fingers crossed if it ever gets on Blue Ray it is the 'Stand On Your Own' (shorter) version not the horrible extended cut.

The alternate takes and deleted scenes are fun to watch, but I prefer the US version overall.

Image Entertainment has the DVD/Blu-Ray rights, since they hold distribution rights to the Lakeshore Entrainment catalog, which in turns holds the rights to many films from New World Pictures. This one included.

I'd love to see a DVD/Blu-Ray with both versions of the film and a few other special features.

Write to Image Entertainment whether it be by email or their Facebook page and tell them you want it. :)
