It was the last addition where Freddy was a dead serious bad-ass, the latter films he would always have his comedic sayings. This was not a perfect film by any means, but it had the darkest mood, and scariest soundtrack aside from pt1..
It had it's 80's highschool cheese, But I'm sure we all respect that, just like the later ones had the 90210 feel. They just got campier and brighter each addition after this.
Agreed with everything you posted. This and the first one are the darkest, scary of the ANOES films. Also with the soundtrack, with the constant 'badinggg' sound that played at crucial points. From part 3 on, the humor brought down the dark/fear factor. I think New Nightmare tried to go back to the darker mood and did in some ways but never really got there. Part 2 also tried something completely out of the box with the body possession by Freddy and breaking rules with him being seen in public at the party. This movie was shunned by people for so long, I'm glad that now it's gotten more respect as time goes by.
shareI think New Nightmate was a great combination of scary and funny. Parts were, imo, the scariest of the series, but it was also mocking and parodying the sillier Freddy of later films, so that lightened it quite a bit.
I can't read books or even newspapers because they're written in prose, and that confuses me. :(
Def 1 and 2 are the really scary ones! Agreed! A new nightmare actually did a really good job trying to be scary again.
I liked that one and dream warriors was just a blast alot of fun!
But if you want horror! Freddy 1 and 2 are what you wanna watch! Those two are the best!
