Freddy's revenge misleading title?
It's not like he's getting revenge on nancy. Did you all think that when you first heard the title?

"Freddy uses gay kid to power up so he can continue his revenge" was too long a name however
shareTechnically this is the only one that doesn't need to be titled FREDDY'S REVENGE. It's not just revenge on Nancy, but on the parents who killed him. And as far as I know no one in this movie has any relation to those people.

Freddy's Revenge is more appropriate to every other film in the series than the one that was actually titled that. share
What is Freddy getting revenge from in this movie? If anybody he got his revenge in the first movie, more or less. This one is just him trying to break into the real world again via possession. The only hint at 'revenge' is the whole 'you are all my children now' bit which shows that he wants to continue his killing spree anew.
Technically, the 1st movie was about his revenge.

I'm thinking 'Freddy's Back' would have been better, as the whole point of the film wasn't the revenge aspect as much as it was Freddy's attempt to possess Jesse so he could continue anew. He could already come out of dreams if the dreamer pulled him out so that wasn't the purpose as much as it was continuing the horror but getting away with it. If he managed to fully take over Jesse, he would have probably used him to create havoc until Jesse's body was destroyed, and then just take over another, and another, and so forth.
I would go for the 'Return of Freddy' subtitle, but the truth is...he never really went anywhere. He's still around, he's just going after some other kids.
