It's a typical eighties exploitation b-movie that found a ready audience with the few remaining grind houses that were around at the time. My guess is it made a quick small profit and then was pulled or shown as a second feature in the same grind houses. I speak from experience, I've seen literally hundreds of these films during the eighties.
The actors involved probably thought it would lead to better things and for the main part in didn't. For the more famous actors and actresses, it was a quick paycheck. I'm sure before the Internet and IMDb came along, they made sure to leave this title off of their resumes.
