I didn't mind the kids until that dumb broad started talking

I'm sure that someone more familiar with Australia than myself will jump on me for being ignorant that Miller used a particular street slang from [random year] to form the basis for this blah blah blah...quite frankly, my dear, I don't give a damn. The fact that the movie got bogged down with the kids was bad enough but that accent, especially when spoken by that dumb girl was the absolute worst! I fully accept that languages would deteriorate along with society but it was just *beep* annoying the whole time. It's funny to see how many reviewers will label it as "charming" or "you'll be mimicking it for days." *beep* that. It was easily the most hated part of the movie.

The Lord of the Flies concept and the kid's patois made the movie for me. Loved it!

She was by far my favorite character and her speech elavated this movie to something magical

She's the reason the kids find a new home

Along with Max she's the hero of the movie, you do realize that yes?

Because of that girl, these kids left a home with plenty of water and greenery to live in abandoned city which was all dried up and open for attackers from every direction.

It's the dumbest thing ever. She basically killed them. Ending showing her with newborn is bull. These people would've been dead in a year or less out there.

Then again, I don't expect realism from these movies. Suspension of disbelief and all that.

It's funny you hated the girl too. I think the only part of this movie that my wife liked was when max punches her in the face lol.

Misogynist? Really? You feel comfortable labeling a total stranger from a few sentences? I think you're reaching too hard. It's a pretty famous quote and not everyone who quotes it off the cuff (like I did) belongs in one category. But if namecalling is preferable than just having a normal conversation about the movie then I hope you ignore me because I get the feeling that real conversations aren't binary enough for you.

It was a big chunk of backstory, so it was never going to be the most thrilling part of the movie. A lesser director would probably have done it entirely in flashback, with nuclear explosions and the plane crash. But that would have taken us out of the time and place of the movie.

Having the girl tell the story like a half-remembered legend, in the mixed-up language of their own community, worked better than any other approach I could think of.

Watching this film again recently, the kids didn't really annoy me until the scene underground at Bartertown where they're goofing around swinging on ropes and running circles round the guards like they're in a Spielberg movie.
