Princess Lily All Gothed Out

Lily looked awesome when she was all gothed out, and I loved how they did the whole scene with her becoming gothy. Dancing with the shadow and then like melting into the same person as the shadow thing.

But there is one thing I don't understand. Why did they give her a unibrow with the black makeup? Who thought that looked good? Seriously.

I watched this movie as a kid and the only part I remembered was that scene. I absolutly loved it and that she was just unbelievably sexy in it. one of these days I'm going to get around to making a costume like it.

Her as a goth was the only good part of the film, it should be remade with Tom Cruise's Peter Pan impersonating character gored by the Unicorn's horn and then Hellboy should beat down the Lord of Darkness...

"Help! I'm being severely back-lit!"

The same person who thought Tom Cruise looked good with it.

Umm... that was an actual semi-unibrow... There was hair between her two eyebrows.

I think the makeup perfect for the transformation...including the unibrow in question. It was sublimely complete.

Back when? It's a fantasy movie, it doesn't take place in any particular place or time.

Actually do your homework, the Gothic scene started around 1979, so they was around back then.

um yes they were. Goth came out in the 80s.

The fashion for waxing your eyebrows into oblivion has really taken off the past ten years or so. Eyebrows will return, and then everyone will bemoan these Barbara Cartland pencil-lines currently in vogue!

reply

I hate it when "goths shave their eyebrows and then draw them in- they look dumb.

But I re-watched the scene with goth lilly and she doesn't have a uni-brow- the only time it looks like she does is when she is beant over the unicorn. But when the camera is straght on her you can tell that she has two very seperate eyebrows.

Goths were around in the 1980s, check your history my friend.

According to wikipedia:

"The goth subculture is a contemporary subculture found in many countries. It began in the United Kingdom during the early 1980s in the gothic rock scene, an offshoot of the post-punk genre. The goth subculture has survived much longer than others of the same era, and has continued to diversify. Its imagery and cultural proclivities indicate influences from nineteenth century Gothic literature, mainly through horror movies."

I am having trouble remembering the uni-brow; I haven't seen this movie since the late-1980s when I was still in elementary school. I will never forget the dress that Sloan Peterson was wearing towards the end though, when she was under the influence of Pennywise Frank-N-Furter. Her breasts were literally pulled into her armpits. My friend and I called her "Stretch."

reply

Actually I think her tattered princess dress right before the goth attire is much better.

I guess because the unibrow is considered undesirable like goth. Though I like "goth" myself, it's not the most popular of styles amongst the conservative. Neither is the unibrow, I suppose.

that part of the movie scared the crap out of me! only because i got a very sexual seduction lesbian vibe from the shadow. Its cool dont get me wrong its just I was so young and it was a bit much for me to take in.

She was like a sunflower. Gods beautiful mistake.

I think that shadow-dancer scene would actually represent Lily 'embracing' her darker side, not necessarily a sexual-lesbian scene. Notice the shadow figure has no face, no visible features. It represents the evil side that has potential in everyone. This Side would complement Darkness, as his mate should it come to that. When Lily decides to "accept" this dark side, after a brief break in the dance, she has this wild, crazed look on her face then submission to the inevitable.
As for the uni-brow, I think it's the lighting. Her brows were airbrushed on for application and this might just be a part of that..**shrugs**
