Lily
I am not knocking this movie at all. I have always loved it and watch it all the time but was it just me or did anyone else think that Lily was a spoiled and annoying girl?

shareYep, she is, a princess, or a lady depending on which version you watch. I think that was kinda the point, she's a little rich girl that always gets everything she wants nad plays around like everything is her little toys (including with Jack's feelings) until she pretty much causes the near end of the world and has to grow up and accept she has to take her medicine for her wrong doings and selfishness. I always thought after Jack wakes her up she is more humble and meaningful in how she speaks and acts towards him, asking if she can come see him, instead of just expecting him to wait like he always did (or running with him out of the woods ready to welcome him into reality instead of just her secret plaything in the forest, again depending on the version)... but that's just how I saw it :)

Yes!, that´s the way I see it. She´s not the typical goody two shoes, she´s way too smart. She´s the true star of the movie, everything revolves around her, for her. When she manipulates the Darkness.... you can say she´s really something. Mia Sara did a great job here. Actually we can see the roles of Lily and Jack are kind of inverted, she´s the one pushing further seeking adventures and he´s just holding back doing the honorable tning, behaving, repecting, resisting temptation, behaviours expected on women not on men, or the usual "heroes" on movies, or actually, any fantasy or reality.
shareActually women were seen in the past as tempters, they would 'cause' a good man to sin, the thought was that women couldn't help it, they were weak willed, they were sinful creatures, who felt a lot of lust and wantonness. In most older heroic stories it is the hero who resists the advances of a lady and remains chaste not the other way round.
