Darkness yelling 'Father! Protect me!'

As he's being sucked out into... space (Aliens style) Darkness yells, "Father! Protect me!"

So, does that mean that Darkness is not the true Prince of Darkness/Satan/Devil then?

Or if he is the Devil, is he calling out to God for help?!

Thread_Killer_of_IMDb is out there. And it absolutely will not stop, ever, until your post is dead.

In the movie it says that Lord Darkness' Mother is the Night, and his Father is Fire.

He even speaks to his father in the movie, when he is talking to the Fire in his fireplace. And the fire talks back to him and gives him advice.

So when he yells, "Father protect me"! He may aswell have been yelling "Fire protect me"! This makes sense when you realize that space is a cold place.

So Darkness is not explicitly the Devil. He is more the living embodiment of two powerful primordial forces combined, and he is the most powerful evil being in that universe. He is called "Lord Darkness" for a reason.

Yeah, ‘cause it’s in the script.

No one here knows squat about metaphysics, which is no surprise on the moronic internet.

No. I’m not even going into a metaphysical discussion on this cesspool of a site.

But, to speak in a mundane vain, the story editor for the movie told Scott, “The Devil does not fuck the princess” for the final cut. This is in the commentary for the Director’s Cut.

Ergo, Darkness was The Satan. His father—the Father of us all, is God Almighty. His plea for help was desperate and cowardly, ignoring myriad sins.

My belief that it was not the christian devil/satan, stems from it being a fantasy lore movie. No one calls Sauron from Lord of the Rings the devil, though he is comparable I reckon. Just like how Darkness is comparable as well. When I wrote that his mother is the night and his father is fire, I got that from watching the movie. I didnt read the script, didnt listen to the commentary yet. I remember Darkness saying "Mother Night, fold your dark arms around me, protect me in your black embrace". And theres another scene where he talks to the fire in his fireplace and it talks back to him! He calls it "Father" and asks the fires advice on wooing the princess.

Its a fantasy movie, the bad guys mom is the night and his father is fire.

You ranting about metaphysics, and then claiming you wont discuss it, is not only pointless but it also shows that you are arrogant and useless.

I will have to listen to the commentary myself, but its easier for people to communicate by just saying "the devil" when referring to Darkness because everyone will know who he means and many people that work on films just want the paycheck and might not care for the film content itself.
