Dante's Inferno Ripped Off This Movie Bad

The video game and animated movie of Dante's Inferno, loosely based around the Divine Comedy from Dante Alighieri, ripped off the entire plot segment surrounding Satan wooing Beatrice is identical to Darkness wooing Lili. Heck, they even made the outfit the same for Beatrice in Dante's Inferno.

It's weird that for as long as this movie has been out I never saw it all the way through until recently (the director's cut). First thing that stood out is when Lili goes through the transformation with Darkness... only difference is that Dante's Inferno was way darker and of course deals with the hard-R (or M-rated) subject matter associated with Satan trying to "woo" Beatrice.

I always thought of this movie as a fairy tale like an old pagan story to explain the changing of the seasons. But I've never read Inferno or The Divine Comedy, or seen the animated movie or video game mentioned here.
